CHICKEN TERRIYAKI SKEWERS

Chicken Skewers are always quick and easy to make and always tastes delicious! They are great for all occasions especially for entertaining guests and kids, or even as a midnight snack if your a fatty like me!  Great thing about cooking at home is the portion can be triple the amount you get at a restaurant! SO EAT UP !!

Spring onion
2 chicken breast fillets { sliced }

Teriyaki sauce
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 cup water
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp garlic powder
5 tbsp brown sugar
2 tbsp honey
2 tbsp corn starch mix with 1/4 cup water

1. Cut chicken into thin strips
2 For the sauce: mix all the sauce ingredients but corn starch together in a saucepan and add 1 cup water. Start to heat.
3. Mix cornstarch and 1/4 cup cold water in a cup and dissolve. Then add this mixture into the pan.
4. Heat until the sauce thickens to desired consistency.
5. If it is too thick add water. For this marinade try to get it to the same consistency as a runny custard.
6. Use this sauce to marinade chicken, cover chicken with it, cover with cling film then let it sit in the fridge for 30mins.
7. Take chicken out and start piercing the chicken with the skewers.
8. Place in a large flat saucespan and pan fry until golden, turning it when necessary.
9. Serve with chopped spring onions.

CHINESE TRANSLATION

 日燒汁雞串
材料:靑蔥(切小粒,備用)
急凍雞柳2條。 長竹簽一些。
曰燒汁材料: 生抽1\4杯,水1杯,羌粉1\2茶匙,蒜粉1\4茶匙,
黃糖5湯匙,蜂蜜2湯匙,粟粉2湯匙,水1\4杯(開粟粉用)
做法: 1)雞柳切薄片。
2)燒汁做法:混合所有汁材料入小煲中,加入水1杯,煮熱。
3)粟粉溶於1\4杯水中,加入汁料中。
4) 使汁料煮至濃稠。
5)如汁太濃縮,可加些水稠和,使之成吉士汁狀為合。
6)用此汁料撈勻雞肉,保鮮紙封好入雪櫃醃30分鐘。
7)取出用竹簽串好。
8)用平底鑊煎至兩面金黃。
9)洒上蔥花供食。

  1. Is there a 1/4 cup of water in step (1) and step (2) or only in step (2)? Is this also separate to the additional 1 cup - So, total amount of water for recipe is 1 and 1/4 cups?

  2. HI, in step 2 it states use 1 cup of water with the ingredients. In step 3 , use 1/4 cup of water to mix with the corn starch in a separate cup, then add that to the mixture. The 1/4 cup of water is just used to dissolve and mix the starch easier. and total water is 1 and 1/4 cups
